 Carving Out a Place in Destin<o:p></o:p>


 Destin, Florida, is known for its sugar-white sands and emerald-green waters. Beneath these waters lies a tapestry of reefs, wrecks, and marine life — the kinds of underwater landscapes that draw divers from far and wide. ScubaTech’s location on U.S. Highway 98 — the “main drag” of Destin — and its proximity to the boat ramp and marinas make it ideally positioned to connect land-based curiosity with open-ocean adventures.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>


 From the start, the staff at ScubaTech understood that diving off the Panhandle presented both challenges and opportunities. The Gulf can be temperamental; visibility shifts, currents vary, and the reefs and wrecks demand careful navigation. But in those same waters lay the raw potential: natural limestone ledges, artificial reefs, tugboats, barges, and even Liberty ships waiting to be explored.<o:p></o:p>


 Building Trust, Dive by Dive<o:p></o:p>


 Through the 1990s and early 2000s, ScubaTech began to embed itself in the local and regional dive community. Word-of-mouth, glowing testimonials, and repeat divers fueled growth. Divers from across the country would trek along Hwy 98, head toward the marinas behind the shop, and find their way to the boat — which was converted, solid, dependable, and well-maintained.<o:p></o:p>


 That reputation for consistency, safety, and hospitality gave ScubaTech a sturdy reputation. They started offering more: formal instruction, equipment sales and servicing, PADI certification courses, guided wreck dives, reef dives, and snorkeling options for non-divers.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>


 Weathering Change, Embracing Growth<o:p></o:p>


 As scuba technology evolved, so did ScubaTech. Newer dive computers, improved gear, enriched air (Nitrox), tighter safety protocols — the shop adopted innovations while staying true to its foundational principles. Their services expanded: gear repairs, retail sales, adaptive diving, and more. They also leaned into community and conservation efforts, recognizing that a healthy ocean supports our business and the passion behind it.<o:p></o:p>


 Importantly, ScubaTech retained its identity as a woman-owned business. Our social media and branding underscore this — a living legacy of Nancy’s founding vision.<o:p></o:p>


 Now owned by Savanna Christy, she continues to run an amazing team of divers. The Team consists of Ashley Vick, Faith Parton, Lina Antikainen, Jon Bush, Mark Christy, Wendy Spolarich, and Peter Spolarich. The team all have a passion for diving and teaching others how to enjoy the underwater world.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>
